For older adults, downsizing to a smaller home is particularly appealing as it allows for the realization of retirement goals, a simplified lifestyle, and to live closer to family. Downsizing offers homeowners a number of advantages, including less maintenance and significant savings on utilities, taxes, and insurance.
But the process can be intimidating.
Fortunately the Fayette County Extension Office will be hosting Downsizing: The Ins and Outs of Downsizing workshop that will help you.
At 10 a.m. on Nov. 23 at the Fayette County Cooperative Service Office, 1140 Red Mile Place, Lexington, experts will provide a detailed overview of downsizing that will help you to understand the process and identify useful strategies.
Downsizing involves a few simple steps: (1) identify all available housing options, (2) consider your financial options, (3) prepare your former home for the move, and (4) prepare for the move into your new home.
If you are interested in learning more about these simple steps, call to RSVP your attendance, 257-5582 or if you have any questions.
