Being a family caregiver can be a difficult role to fill.

Fortunately, state and local experts are coming together to help you.

A Family Caregiving Workshop is taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept., 6.

The program will offer information about Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving. And it will provide attendees with an opportunity to reflect, regenerate and gain a new perspective on your caregiving role.

Local and statewide experts who specialize in aging and Alzheimer’s care – including the Sanders-Brown Center of Aging’s Dr. Greg Jicha and dementia expert Marie Smart – will present topics that are helpful to family caregivers of persons with dementia.

The program will be held at the Alzheimer’s Association basement conference room, 2808 Palumbo Drive, Lexington.

Registration deadline is Aug. 30. Registration is $10. To register, call 1-800-272-3900.

The workshop is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, Baptist Health Medical Center and the Bluegrass Area Agency on Aging. The workshop is not open to professional caregivers.
