ITNBluegrass, which provides transportation to seniors and those with visual impairments in Fayette and Northern Jessamine counties, is in need of volunteer drivers.
The Independent Transportation Network® is the first and only national nonprofit transportation system for America’s aging population.
The ITN model creates an efficient and financially sustainable solution to the transportation needs of seniors and visually challenged people. As ITN Members, older people maintain their independence and their dignity.
* Help seniors stay independent and healthy by taking them to visit friends, to a doctor’s appointment or to get their hair cut.
* Help make driving safer for everyone.
* Provide a positive alternative to a huge national transportation problem by ensuring that seniors have a choice without burdening family and friends.
* Receive a free annual membership with ITNBluegrass for yourself and one friend and earn credits to use for future transportation needs.
Riders are provided in private vehicles with trained drivers. Drivers provide “arm-to-arm” door-to-door services and help with packages.
Drivers can provide one afternoon a week or a few hours during the month. You’ll receive training, and ITNBluegrass will arrange your driving assignments and routes around your schedule.
You can even pick up a rider on your way to work and do a good deed before the day’s begun!
Volunteers help older people stay connected to families, friends, and activities that bring meaning to their lives – and to yours.
